Our Venues

Somerville House has an enviable location in South Brisbane, overlooking the South Bank Parklands. The School has several heritage, as well as new facilities, that we are delighted to make available for hire.

The Honour Room, located in our Foundation Building, is a newly-commissioned, modern facility and an ideal venue for business meetings, private functions, weddings, formal dinners, conferences and product launches. This large formal reception room is entered via an intimate foyer, and there is also an impressive terrace with view to the city.

Harker Hall is the School’s auditorium and is suitable for concerts, recitals, conferences, lectures and dance competitions. This venue will seat 1000 people, but also it can be broken down to provide more intimate spaces if required. Harker Hall also has a foyer and terrace with city views.

For a more traditional space, The Chamber Room in the Chambers Building, offers a delightful area suitable for cocktail functions, soirees, small recitals, small lectures and training sessions, and formal dinners. This room can comfortably seat 60 people in theatre style.

During school holiday periods we are able to provide residential space in our very modern boarding house. Suitable for conferences and workshops, both students and adults will enjoy the comfort of the facilities offered in Mavis Holden and Craig Hall Houses.

The hire of a venue at Somerville House includes the provision of air-conditioning, basic AV, table and chair placement, basic linen table cloths and routine after cleaning, within the current scope of the School’s cleaning contact arrangements. Out of hours, including weekends, will be charged based on the requirements of the Hirer. For full details of all our facilities, please see below, or if you would like to visit the School please contact us on venuehire@somerville.qld.edu.au or phone 3248 9200.
